DISCOVER FLOATING SEASON IN TRAM CHIM TAM NONG NATIONAL PARK

Le Hoang Long – the director of Center for Tourism and Environmental Education of Tram Chim National Park, Dong Thap province said that from September to December, during 4 months of flood season, the park organizes sightseeing programs associating with four forms of experience: fishing, sightseeing, rice harvesting and paddy field rat hunting.
Thousands of birds gather here
The lotus lagoon is a place where thousands of red herrings gather here to feed on the fresh young grass and occasionally bell out incredible “songs” or perform beautiful dances.
Coming to Tram Chim, you not only hear the birds singing in the trees, you also hear the fish wading under the water surface, the yellow sesbania sesban reflected water, the purple color of water lily mixed pink lotus, and the lush green of tee trees, and the list goes on… This is also the most beautiful season of the year in Ramsa Tram Chim.
Visitors are fascinated by the birds scattered in a few hectare wide park in the vast woods. Dozens of bird species live are full-time citizens such as herons, mallards, etc. and tens of thousands of white storks.
Rare species are found there also
To help visitors thrilling experience, Tram Chim National Park organizes tours in the garden. This is a distinctive eco-tourism area of Dong Thap Muoi miniature attracting both domestic and foreign visitors. The park is the place to preserve the biodiversity of Dong Thap Muoi as well as the historical culture and scientific research of many world organizations.
Tram Chim National Park organizes visitors to visit the area around Zone A1 by water or on foot. Travellers are able to climb on the 20m high observatory station to witness water birds, rice, sky, lotus ponds, and tea tree.
Tram Chim National Park has long been dubbed “the green oasis” with its captivating natural scenery, the soul of Dong Thap Muoi lowland.
It is a famous tourist attraction in Dong Thap province, where it preserves the natural features of Dong Thap Muoi. The province has invested tens of billions of VND to make asphalt roads, bridges and other facilities for tourist cars approaching the garden area of Zone A1 – which is considered the green lung of Dong Thap Muoi.

Coming here, visitors will be overwhelmed in the bird sanctuary with many birds flying densely over a corner of the sky. On the vast forest zones, dozens of waterbird species live and nest all year round but they all overshadowed by tens of thousands of white storks.
Director of Tram Chim National Park Nguyen Van Hung said that it is currently in the harvest season attracting visitors with rice harvesting experience in the floating season. The rice paddies, also called ghost rice (Oryza rufipogon) are preserved in an area of over 800 ha.
The park has five canoes to cater to visitors who enjoy the rice harvest. The conservation and exploitation of rice must maintain the ecological environment. Besides, it will create the opportunities for visitors to experience the floating season of Dong Thap Muoi and have the insight of how residents here earn off a living.
In addition to harvesting rice, visitors also have a chance to see 16 rare species of birds including Red Sarus Crane, Black Crowned Stork, Black Eagle, or Gray Pelican, and so on.
What a peaceful scene to enjoy
To see the breeding ground of the A2 (2-3ha area, about 6km from the Tourist Center of the park), just take a few minutes to register, visitors will experience about 3km by motorbike, then you will traverse through layers of woods by small long boat. There comes home of birds such as suliformes, white storks … and many other rare birds.
Here, visitors will switch to small boats (2-3 people / each) lightly swim into the forest and green grasslands. Visitors will see the proliferation of birds with incredible concentration.
It is fascinating when visitors can manually set each tube trap to catch eel, plug each fishing rod and then divided into groups to catch paddy field rats. After every feat (fish, eel or mouse) visitors are guided how to grilled, or cooked sour soup with vegetables from gardens.
